I found a NSFW coin in my grandfather's collection after he died - selling it is going to help pay f

A STUDENT told how he found a 20th-century coin in his late grandfather’s collection.

He revealed that selling the quarter would help him pay for his education.

Tyler, who came across a 1917 Standing Liberty coin, took the quarter into the famous Gold and Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas, Nevada – home of the hit TV show Pawn Stars.

Rick Harrison described the quarter as one of the coolest ever to enter circulation in the US.

The Standing Liberty Quarter, which entered circulation in January 1917 until it was discontinued in the early 1930s, was controversial as Lady Liberty's right boob was exposed.

On one side, Lady Liberty held an olive branch, while the other featured an eagle.

Harrison looked at the coin, which consisted of 10% copper and the rest silver, closely and was glad that it had toned as it meant he could study the details.

Tyler was asked how much he would like for the coin and he thought it was worth at least $500.

Harrison then estimated the coin was worth anything between $1200 and $1700 – two figures that shocked the owner.

Tyler revealed that he had a final to go to so couldn’t wait for an expert to examine the coin more closely.

He was offered $1,000 for the quarter and the pair shook hands on the deal.

Tyler said the amount offered was double what he had in mind.

He said: “I’m pretty excited that I’m going to get more for my coin than what I initially thought it was valued at.

“That’s going to pay for a lot – for my school – and it’s going to go a long way.”

A 1917 Standing Liberty Quarter in good condition retails for around $30, per USA Coin Book.

The value increases for coins that are in very fine or extremely fine condition.

An uncirculated 1917 Standing Liberty Quarter could retail for up to $400, per USA Coin Book.

A Standing Liberty quarter that covered the exposed breast of Lady Liberty was released years later.

Standing Liberty quarters dating back to 1917 are being sold on eBay for up to $500.

Potential buyers should research before committing to a deal by checking the seller’s history.

She revealed that this particular dime was manufactured from silver planchet, while most were crafted using copper-nickel.

The content creator said Americans with the rare 1965 dime must weigh it to check whether it was made from silver or copper-nickel.
