Man, 60, dies after being found stabbed in South London street as man, 50, arrested for murder T

A 60-YEAR-OLD man was knifed to death outside a home in South London last night as a man, 50, was arrested for murder.

Police and paramedics attended the stabbing in Thornton Heath, Croydon, at around 9.30pm.

The injured man was pronounced dead at the scene less than 20 minutes later.

His next of kin have been informed, although formal identification is yet to take place.

A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

Detective Chief Inspector Simon Harding is urging witnesses to come forward to the stabbing on Woodcroft Road.

“No matter how insignificant you think it may be please do make the call," he said in a statement.

"We are building the sequence of events leading up to and immediately following this attack which has led to a man’s death, your call could complete the picture.”

The man arrested on suspicion of murder fell ill after being taken into custody. He is currently in a stable condition in hospital.
