Dance Moms Season 6 Episode 24 Recap: Jess Steps Up Big

Dance Moms Season 6 Episode 24 saw Abby Lee Miller challenge Nia and Kendall like never before. Well, not like never before, but like a lot.

A lot.

If you, watch Dance Moms online, you know how cray s–t can get, and what deep, dark secrets might be revealed on any given week.

On Dance Moms Season 6 Episode 24, it was JoJo Siwa’s family we learned about, with her mom, Jessalynn Siwa, under heavy scrutiny.

During practice for Abby Lee Miller’s elite junior team’s trios, Jessalyn runs out of the studio, quickly followed by the concerned moms.

There we learn that her family hasn’t been supportive of their move to Los Angeles to be with the ALDC, and they may have a point.

It’s not just that they loathe Miller, or the Lifetime show, but Jess’ dad and her sister believe she should have moved to Nebraska instead.

Why? Her mother’s cancer has recently returned.

Of course, her family’s behavior is also suspect.

“My dad just wrote on social media that my sister’s little girl is a better dancer than JoJo,” Jess reveals, describing her bizarre situation.

Jill Vertes tells Jess to keep JoJo in mind, which she says she does – and that’s precisely why she can’t and won’t return home to Nebraska.

Jessalyn describes her motivation thusly:

“Some people in my family aren’t supportive of what I do with JoJo and how I spend my time. It comes to the point where you just can’t take it anymore.”

“From the time JoJo has been able to walk I knew she was going to be a famous star. She’s brilliant and I can’t throw that away.”

“She loves it, she’s thriving, she’s happy.”

“That’s how it’s going to stay.”

At least Abby is participating more with her students, Jess says, following her promise in last week’s Dance Moms season premiere.

For now, this family will have to do.

Of course, like any family, things can get ugly fast, and when the moms confront Abby about giving their girls more technical training …

… Miller storms out. Standard.

Maybe Abby’s prison sentencing looming has taken its toll on her, or she’s just a stubborn egomaniac who can’t take criticism. Who knows.

At that juncture, Jess decides to step up – as a dance teacher herself – and take the lead in the absence of the always mercurial Miller.

The difference is quickly and profoundly noted.

Kalani Hilliker says how nice it is nice to receive a “positive” pep talk for once; Holly Frazier is similarly moved by the support for Nia.

“I’m glad that Jess stepped in. She’s encouraging, she’s positive; Abby could take a lesson from Jess,” Holly says of her fellow Dance Mom.

At the competition, Abby sat in the audience eating popcorn. Seriously. The moms had to attempt to talk some sense into her afterward.

Good luck with that.

Abby accused Jess of simply “coddling” the girls and when Holly asks if she’d rather just be alone, Miller says that wouldn’t be so bad.

“Yes,” Abby responds, defiantly and flippantly:

“You’re born alone and you die alone.”
